After identifying the features that we wanted to implement in Knit, we had to begin putting the interface together. Thanks to our preliminary design sketches, and the sitemap that we created earlier, we had the general interaction mapped out already. What we lacked at this point was feedback on the actual experience, and in order to do this we created a paper prototype to simulate how the app would work.
We split the different segments of the prototype into three tasks:
-
Setting up the app and synchronizing the user’s contacts.
-
Setting a reminder for a specific contact at a certain time.
-
Acting upon the reminder to communicate with the specified contact.
We then made physical versions of the app to take the user through these tasks. These paper prototypes mimicked how Knit would perform digitally, and helped us to identify pain points with the interface before we designed any further

After testing with several users, including our HCDE peers and people outside of class, we went on to create an evaluation report of our findings.
Below you can walk through each task and to get a feel of how the users may have responded.
